Simplify Your Social Media Content

The game is on. Mother Nature has cooperated with providing us with snow this Holiday season. By end of the week we should be at full capacity and starting the new year off with the blessing of a good base before the Holidays and the promise of a White Christmas/Hanukkah

5 Simple Tips for Capturing "Of-the-Moment" Content

  1. Keep It Natural:Focus on authentic moments, like a team laugh, setting up shop, or a happy customer. Imperfect is perfect.
  1. Stay Ready: Keep your phone handy with plenty of storage. Spontaneous moments are the best moments.
  1. Use Natural Light: Position your subject near (not in front of) a window or head outdoors. Use the hand trick: hold up your hand and rotate it till you see the best light, position your subject according to this. No need for fancy lighting.
  1. Think Short & Vertical: Shoot quick clips (10–15 seconds) in portrait mode for Instagram Stories, Reels, and TikTok. If you have an editor I prefer to receive Landscape with plenty of room above and below. It looks like it’s too far away. With a landscape clip I can focus on one or two key elements in the finished edit. Ex: Focus on the narrator in the beginning and then pan to the product.
  1. Edit Lightly: Use in-app tools to trim, add text, or apply a simple filter. Less is more when it comes to edits. Or assign someone the task of edit and post. Many of my clients text me their short clips and I get it edited and up for them.

With the holidays upon us and a strong season ahead, there’s no better time to let your social media do the heavy lifting. Simple, authentic content can capture the energy of the moment without overcomplicating things.

Whether it’s a quick clip of fresh snowfall, a glimpse of your team in action, or the daily rhythms of your business, these small, real moments help keep your audience connected. Stay light, stay prepared, and let the season naturally shape your story.

Here’s to wrapping up the year with purpose and stepping into the next with momentum.

Have A Happy Holiday!!
