From floating aimlessly to mastering new horizons: How 2024’s transformative technology leap is reshaping creativity, video, and marketing.

I don’t know about you but feel like I’m just floating around aimlessly  this past month. The end of 2024 left me with a NOW WHAT! Brain Loop that won’t end. 2024 was so filled with change that now the firehose has eased and I’m left with an ocean of new waters to traverse. Luckily,  my boat is solidly built and with all the new gear, navigation and propulsion are a bit wonky.

And I mean new gear.

Every five years I do an upgrade with my computer systems. This year the upgrade included all my devices at once! My new computer arrives tomorrow and will take me a week just to load and login to all my platforms and software, the laptop came last week - the AI capabilities are blowing my mind, and the iPad now 2 weeks old with Procreate Dreams (video animation software) has become my new evening distraction. The next few months will be spent mastering all the new software. Granted this is not all just grindstone work, the creativity awakened with all the new capabilities I am looking forward to being able to animate my videos, Ai in editing, motion graphics with a new M4pro chip is 5 steps up from my current rig, and the integration of my computer systems directly with Ai is a game changer.

So why did I do it now?

The past three years technology has taken a big leap. I’ve seen this twice before in my professional career.

  • 2000 with the internet boom, AOL, Yahoo, and web search, suddenly you needed a website to be in business.
  • 2010 with Apple’s first major OS rebuild which forced PC into a change they were not ready for. Remember Windows 7? And the entry of video streaming with YouTube gaining videos uploads by the millisecond and Meta close on it’s heels (April 2010 Facebook allowed video uploads on the main stream)
  • 2023 Ai arrived. It was high time, the tech world has grown so large the human power it took to keep up was prohibitive. Ai has become that new research assistant and not at the cost of human jobs, humans were not made to process this much information.  Ai has created an entirely new workforce. Ai can write for me to a point, but it is painfully obvious when I let it do the entire article. I do not claim to be a good writer, Ai can only  write as well as the person prompting it, so a skilled writer will get measurably better results. A skilled marketer will build winning strategies powered with high performing content. As far as video, complete creation is not there yet but assisting a skilled creator in getting the job done is essential. I tried my hand at audio creation this week. I’ll let you know once the edit is finished.

And what does this mean for digital marketing?

EVERYTHING has changed. In 2010 video became mainstream and the production of video content was streamlined. Now 14 years later video has surpassed static posts and is now the norm. The demand for consistent video content is now a necessity.  This Weekly newsletter will soon have a video version in April 2024. I have avoided the commitment for the past year because I needed to follow my own advice of sustainable consistency by developing a new workflow and that required new gear. I’ll keep you updated to my progress.
